April is a really busy month in Japan. Cherry blossom (さくら), beginning of the school year & the preparations for Golden Week, which is the longest vacation of the Year. So it's nice. The sun shines and everything is filled with pinkish specials (tea, cake, cream & drink) that people pack and take to a park. Thing goes like that:
[1] One person (maximum 2) wake up really early and get to the place with the cherry trees around 9AM
[2] They place the plastic sheet, to book the picnic spot.
[3] Wait until nightime, when friends come with loads of food & drinks. NOTE: In weekends, they'll show up at lunchtime or even before.
[4] Enjoy the time together.
Other than drinking parties, children will go get pretty pictures with their cute school bags.
Japanese snapshots of real life. Visit Yoyogi and forget about the Harajuku stereotype.
