Kauai : Polihale Beach
Polihale Beach (translated as The Home of the Underworld) is one of the longest (24km) and widest (1km) in Hawaii. The traditional hawaiian belief holds Polihale as the place where souls should depart for Po - the underworld. The massive drench of sand ends where the enchanting cliffs that constitute Na Pali coast begin. Ancient hawaiians believed that spirits jumped right off there, before heading on a trip without return. Windy, sunny, huge. Perfect spot for a picnic and extremely careful swimming - hawaiian currents are no joke.
Next stop… Hanapepe!!
