My friend Natsuki introduced me to Two Rooms. Since then, it's one of those places I always look forward to. Maybe the cool interior, the convenient location - near home and my hairdresser - or the lovely waiters that make the magic. Either to hang out at the bar, enjoy a lovely dinner or just to sit down and relax, watching the sunset over the Tokyo heights.
Friday 18th January, 2013. Big day for us. Not only was Enrique's 30th birthday, he had been promoted (yes, second time since the year started).
It's hard to come up with presents, when someone doesn't care much about anything except gadgets. But the object of desire is yet to be launched. Hence, I decided to offer an experience, hoping he would never forget that day.
Feeling more New York than Tokyo, we let the dinner start. Enrique went for "The Beef" tasting menu, upgrading to Foie & Wagyu Sirloin. I picked some fish choices à la carte. See next how they looked like!
Today’s Tsukiji Fish Carpaccio (Pink Daikon· Rosemary· Shiso)
Teppan Grilled Hokkaido Scallops (Bacon Dust· Avocado· New Pea Shoots)
Char Grilled Crystal Bay Prawns (Hummous· Fragrant Herbs Preserved Lemon)
Linguine Porcini (Cream· Yanagi Matsutake Parmesan Crumbs· Water Spinach)
Char Grilled Rangers Valley Tenderloin (Kyoto Red Carrot· Mashed Potatoes Red Wine Sauce)
+ Wagyu Sirloin
+ Teppan Grill Foie Gras
Rare Blue Fin Tuna (Sun Dried Tomato · Green Olive Tapenade · Balsamic)
But the best was yet to come. Two Rooms offers the possibility to pre-order Birthday Cake. This makes it extra-nice for that extra boom that hits that person who has it all… Because a waiter singing is certain recipe for a big smile.
We made it (^_^)
Here's why the place is called Two Rooms : Because it actually consists of 2 rooms! The restaurant and the bar. Equipped with an impressive cellar, some of the best views & waiters in town, it's a nice location to chill & share a drink with lover, friend or simply drop by for unexpected encounters. Who knows, right? The night is young and never ending in Tokyo.
