Rainy hanami 「花見」in Shinjuku「新宿」

Cherry trees are in full bloom. The weather isn't great. Still, it's warm enough - 8C - for a morning powerwalk of 17km. We had to carry the camera, but it was well worth the view, the workout and the company :) Few things make you feel as great as sweating with your loved one does.

We already talked about Shinjuku Gyoen, it's the equivalent to Central Park in Tokyo. Filled with all kinds of trees, doesn't make a difference when you come, there are always flowers in bloom to come and see. Many many toilets and of course, thousand picnic opportunities.

Please note. If you're up for some drinks, better head to Yoyogi (near Harajuku) as alcohol is forbidden in Shinjuku Gyoen. The police checks your bag when you come in, there is no way to sneak (and I wouldn't recommend trying either). Go get drunk on Saturday and spend your hangover here!

The grass is never ending, I feel like going back to my teen capoeira years.

Innocent picnic under the white magic.

The NTT DOCOMO Empire State copy, surrounded by pinkish leaves.

Not a cherry blossom, but nice huh?

Japanese garden in all its splendour.

The real sakura magic: White leaves, black trees.

Dreamy view of the lake, while we wonder whether this will be our last 花見?
