Last weekend was one of those weekends. When Enrique has to work. When he comes home while I'm sleeping and leaves before I wake up. Last weekend would have been a disaster, if it hadn't been because of Marie. She stayed over for a couple of nights that felt like 2 weeks of vacation.
From Xmas Lights through dining at Gonpachi to Kamakura, via some random jazz vocalist over finger food and endless conversation over wine & olives at TwoRooms. It was, simply awesome. Because we didn't plan, but everything worked out. Just like life should be, I suppose.
Marie is a very special person. Like many other, may give the wrong impression. Because being quiet isn't the same as being cold or shy. It just indicates thoughtfulness and over-the-average intelligence. We share the love for Asia. And the interest in human beings, that drives anyone working with sales. I am in B2B, she is in the B2C fashion retail. It's just so amazing to hear about her everyday.
And ironic, at the same time. We believe that fashion is an enabler for uniqueness. But at the end of the day, choices and sales targets are basically steered and met by the store layout. In a world where collections address different target profiles and trends are not as global as we believe, understanding the local nuances can make or break the expansion.
Everything vanishes in the nature, under the Saturday morning sun. Just the 3 of us, walking through Kamakura Fall. Yes, you've seen it many[1] many[2] many[3] many[4] times. But if I don't get tired, why should you? :P
The kids looked at them, because they were so tall and blue eyed.
The dragon of the temple where money is washed, so it triplicates.
The colorful cranes, offered to the kami.
Marie under the Tori. Many of them.
My favorite buddha. The most peaceful and amazing turquoise colored in the world.
Red leaves. Red aprons.
Have a great trip and till the next time :)
